facebook lite Facebook Lite Shuts Down
After just seven months of service, social networking site Facebook has decided to shut down Facebook Lite which originally aimed to help users with slow or poor internet connections use the website.
In the minimalist Facebook Lite interface, users can only comment, accept friend requests, look at photos, update statuses, and write on friend’s walls. It does not run apps and other “extra services” you would normally have in the regular interface.

Posted in the status update of the Facebook Lite webpage, it says, “Thanks to everyone who tried out Facebook Lite. We’re no longer supporting it, but learned a lot from the test of a slimmed-down site. If you used Lite, you’ll now be taken to the main Facebook.com site.”

Facebook Lite users are reacting negatively to this news. While they do have fast bandwidth connections, they have grown fond of the lite interface because most say that the regular Facebook page is too cluttered and time-consuming to manage.

Facebook has shut down Facebook Lite - but insists that the experiment was a success.
Facebook Lite, launched last year, was designed for those with poor connections, offering a pared down service.
Anyone trying to access the Lite version will now be redirected to full fat Facebook.

Speculation about exactly why Lite was finished is rife, but Facebook has remained closed lipped so far.
Of course, it could well be that with phone versions and better connections proliferating, there simply wasn't enough demand for a reduced service.
We'd ask if anyone here was upset, but we never got round to TechRadar Lite so you probably can't even read this.
